Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Derbyshire

Everyone’s heard of Chatsworth House; it’s home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and has been in the Cavendish family for 16 generations. This magnificent mansion is famous throughout the world for its sheer beauty and for its marvellous art collection that spans 4,000 years and includes works by prominent artists and sculpturers. There are 30 rooms to explore including the State Rooms and the incredible Painted Hall.
If you’re planning a trip to Chatsworth you’ll certainly need a whole day because there are also the gardens to explore 105 acres including the Canal Pond, the Cascade, the 1st Duke’s Greenhouse, and the Rock Garden. Then there’ the Farmyard and Playground which children love, obviously; they can meet the ponies and lambs, take a trailer ride, milk a cow, and let off steam in the rope park or boinging on the trampolines.
It’s all so amazing and there are family trails you can do in both the house and the gardens. No doubt you’ll work up an appetite and there are several places to eat from The Carriage House restaurant to the Farm Shop Café, and the Shepherd’s Hut for snacks. And of course there are shops where you can buy a lasting momento of your visit.
