Church View Retreat offers peace and quiet in the beautiful countryside of South Derbyshire, just a short drive from the Peak District. Tucked away down a private track, it feels like a world of your own where you can truly unwind and leave the stresses of modern life behind. There are 18 acres to stroll around at your leisure; you can get up in the morning and go and collect fresh eggs from the chickens, and in the autumn you can help yourself to apples in the orchard, a wonderful sight in the springtime when the trees are in blossom. 

 

Church View Retreat has three properties for holidays and short breaks all standing to three sides of a central courtyard; Butterpot Cottage is a cosy retreat for up to 4 with a small internal sauna and large sauna with LED lighting and bluetooth speakers. Bumblebee Barn sleeps up to 11 people, making it ideal for family holidays, gatherings of friends, hen,stag  weekends and corporate breaks. Both cottages have a hot tub, and inside have been tastefully designed with the rustic character enhanced by solid oak latch and brace doors, original ceiling beams and chunky natural wood windowsills. There is sandstone under floor heating through out all properties Beds can be superking or single whichever suites you and your guests all the high quality comforts you need for a relaxing break.

The main house, Church View Retrat is a spacious house will sleep 16 guests  in 5 bedrooms which 3 have ensuites. A indoor sauna, pool table, table foorball, table tennis, large outdoor hot tub to sit 7 guests, 2 football goals for that family game, fire pit for the evening to sit together and enjoy. With an amazing out door kitchen area with a new Pizza oven coming in summer 2020  All three properties can be booked together for large group holidays for up to 32  guests - great for families, friends,celebrations, hen/ stag, parties, special birthday celebrations weekends and corporate team building or away days.

All properties have use of the front courtyard, attractively laid out with wide pathways, outdoor table tennis, planters and seating. 

 

Why not book a private chef during your stay, dance lessons, masterclass cocktail making, life drawings or even the hire of a bouncy castle. There is plenty of grounds to enjoy any outdoor activity. 

There’s much to see and do in this part of the world; the spectacular landscape of the Peak District is within easy reach and offers a multitude of places to go walking, cycling or horse riding; you can get out and visit some of the magnificent historic houses nearby, like Bolsover Castle, Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall, and of course, Chatsworth House. The pretty market town of Ashbourne is only a short drive away and is very nice for a browse, with good shops and eateries. Spend the day in Derby where you can see the cathedral, grab some retail therapy, or browse the museums. Alton Towers is only 16 miles away, and there are several country parks where the young ‘uns can run about and let off steam – Poole’s Cavern and Country Park, Heights of Abraham, and Conkers are all great. Have a glide along the Cromford Canal on a painted narrowboat, or an amble around Buxton.

Foodies will love the abundance of local produce – Betty’s Farm Shop and Croots Farm Shop are only a short drive, and when it comes to eating out – well! The Horseshoes, The Ostrich, and The Lighthouse Restaurant at Ashbourne are all very good, and likewise The Cow at Dalbury Lees, but there are plenty more and you’ll find lots of inspiration on our Things To Do pages.
