The Ostrich Inn, Longford, Ashbourne, Derbyshire

A lovely old red brick building with a big beer garden; a bit out in the sticks in what’s known as the Derbyshire Golden Triangle, but worth finding as it’s something of a gem. Food is good, honest unpretentious pub fare, all home cooked and served by friendly smiley people. Go for lunch or for a pint; they keep the beer well and if the sun is shining you can sit out and enjoy the views and the birdsong. A good place for families and even the dog is welcome.
