Upbeat and cosmopolitan, Derby sits on the banks of the River Derwent and is packed with things to see and do. There’s a real treat in store for shopaholics with the intu Derby shopping centre and the more exclusive Cathedral Quarter, but don’t buy too much because remember you have to take it all home! Of course a visit to the Gothic cathedral is a must and if take a Tower Climb you might even spot the peregrine falcons that nest there. Culture vultures will delight in an afternoon browsing the  Derby Museum & Art Gallery where several paintings by Derby’s most famous son, Joseph Wright, are displayed. Lots and lots of places to eat – tea shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, and several festivals throughout the year including Derby Film Festival, Derby Folk Festival, and Derby Festé. Full on city fun!
